Kitchen CUT launches financial management course in collaboration with Russell Partnership
Our new course will bridge the gap between chefs’ culinary skills and business acumen, by using Kitchen CUT technology to teach effective financial management.
We have partnered with leading Food, Nutrition and Technology Collection, Russell Partnership, to launch a Financial Management Course, designed especially for professional chefs.
The online programme has been created by Michelin Star Chef and Founder of Kitchen CUT, John Wood, together with Peter Russell of the Russell Partnership, to bridge the gap between chefs’ culinary skills and business acumen. Designed for all chefs, this course would suit all levels, from Chef de Partie, Junior to Executive Sous Chefs, Head Chefs and Executive Chefs.
The course will enhance financial understanding, helping culinary professionals to better manage the day-to-day operations of their kitchens and create profitable hospitality businesses. By using specialist Kitchen CUT technology, the programme simulates real-life financial management situations, teaching chefs a range of key business decision-making skills that can be applied to everyday scenarios.
John Wood said: “Throughout my career, I have been passionate about helping chefs to learn the skills that aren’t taught in culinary school, to understand the huge benefits of understanding financial management, to create successful, profitable businesses. With this course, we wanted to fill these gaps in knowledge and provide a comprehensive learning tool.
“By incorporating Kitchen CUT technology, chefs get the opportunity to test out creating profitable menus, ordering more economically and cutting unnecessary costs such as managing food waste. Our software enables participants to calculate answers to complete the course and help them overcome the real-life challenges they will almost certainly face when running their own kitchens, to gain better control of their margins.”
Russell Partnership Technology delivers hospitality development programs that focus on strategic management and skillset development. The organisation offers a range of programmes that optimise how students and industry professionals learn about the hospitality industry, enabling accelerated career advancement.
The Financial Management Course from Kitchen CUT and Russell Partnership not only creates better financial understanding for chefs, but it also develops individuals as leaders. With enhanced business acumen and well-rounded skill sets, chefs will gain more opportunities for career advancement; to take on promotions and progress into higher leadership roles.
John continued: “From our experience with this course, chefs and other culinary professionals should see a 1-3% increase in the profit margins of their hospitality businesses. This course would work brilliantly for groups of restaurants, pubs or other hospitality businesses looking to support and develop the financial knowledge of their chefs, with consistent teaching across the board.
“As well as learning how to run a financially viable business, this programme helps chefs to excel within their current workplace and build strong future careers in the hospitality industry.”
